Rose Moon Milk is warm, creamy, and lightly floral—with just the right amount of spice. It’s perfect on a slow evening while ignoring your phone and pretending you have your life together (even if you definitely don’t).

It’s easy to make, naturally calming, and a nice little bonus for your hormones, digestion, and mood. The rose petals give it a mellow, floral note (nothing too fancy), cinnamon keeps your blood sugar steady, and maca adds a subtle energy balance—especially helpful during PMS week or post-stress fatigue.

And yes, rose moon milk is topped with rose petals, because why not?

What’s in This Rose Moon Milk

  • 1 cup oat milk – Creamy, comforting, and the perfect neutral base for both cinnamon and rose.
Want to DIY it? Here’s how I make homemade plant-based milk.
  • 1 tsp dried rose petals – Used in herbalism for their calming, heart-opening effects. They’re also naturally high in antioxidants.
  • ½ tsp cinnamon – Warms the body, supports digestion, and helps balance blood sugar.
  • ½ tsp maca powder – A hormone-balancing adaptogen that supports energy and resilience over time. I especially like it during my luteal phase or after a stressful week. Here’s my full post on moon milk for hormone balance if you want to dive deeper into the best ingredients to support your cycle and stress levels.
  • ½ tsp vanilla powder – Adds that familiar, cozy flavor and rounds out the spice and floral notes.
  • 1 tsp maple syrup – Optional, but adds just enough sweetness to make everything taste like dessert—but low-key.

Tips for the Best Rose Moon Milk

  • Use it as an evening “off switch.” I make this when I need a clear signal to stop checking emails or overthinking tomorrow. It’s simple, grounding, and gives your nervous system something to do besides doomscroll.
  • Make it part of your luteal phase routine. The combo of maca and rose is especially helpful during PMS or low-energy days.
  • Turn it into a slow moment. I like to make this while tidying the kitchen.
  • Top it with a little something fancy. A few rose petals, a pinch of cinnamon, or even a dusting of beetroot powder can turn this into a drink that feels indulgent—even if you’re wearing sweatpants.
  • Batch your dry mix. You can pre-mix the cinnamon, maca, and vanilla and store it in a jar. Then all you need to do is steep the rose and add your powder blend.

Rose Moon Milk

This Rose Moon Milk is made with calming rose petals, blood-sugar-friendly cinnamon, and hormone-supporting maca—for a cozy, functional drink that actually helps you wind down before bed.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oat milk (or cashew milk for extra creaminess)
  • 1 tsp dried rose petals
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp maca powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla powder
  • 1 tsp maple syrup

Instructions

  • Warm the milk in a small saucepan over low heat.
  • Add the rose petals and let them steep for about 5 minutes. No need to rush—this part smells amazing.
  • Strain out the petals, then whisk in the cinnamon, maca, vanilla, and maple syrup.
  • Pour into your favorite mug. Garnish with extra petals if you want to feel a little fancy (I always do).

Notes

  • Start small with maca. If you’re new to it, try ¼ tsp and work up to ½ tsp. Too much can taste a little earthy or overpower the rose.
  • Rose petals steep fast. 5 minutes is plenty—any longer and the flavor can get too strong or slightly bitter.
  • Strain slowly for a smooth sip. A fine mesh strainer works best, especially for catching stray petals and keeping the texture clean.
  • Oat milk makes it cozy, cashew milk makes it decadent. I like oat milk for every day, but cashew milk gives it more of a dessert-like feel.
  • Don’t skip the vanilla. It brings everything together and keeps the rose flavor from tasting too floral or soapy.

FAQ: Rose Moon Milk

Can I actually taste the rose?

A little, yes—but it’s subtle and not perfumey if you use the right amount. The cinnamon and vanilla keep it grounded. If you’re unsure, start with ½ tsp of petals and build from there.

Is maca okay to drink before bed?

For most people, yes. It’s not a stimulant, but it can feel energizing in high amounts. I keep the dose low (½ tsp or less), and it helps me feel more balanced—not wired. If you’re super sensitive, try it earlier in the evening the first time.

Is rose moon milk good for hormone balance?

It’s a great option! Maca is one of my go-to adaptogens during the luteal phase, and rose has been traditionally used for emotional support. I also like that the ingredients help stabilize blood sugar, which matters more than people realize for hormone health.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes. You can prep a batch, strain out the petals, and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days. Just reheat gently and whisk or froth before serving.

What if I don’t have maca?

You can skip it or sub in another adaptogen like ashwagandha or shatavari (if that works better for your body). It’ll still be delicious and calming.

Will rose moon milk help me sleep?

It’s not a knock-you-out kind of drink, but it helps your body wind down—especially if your stress is hormone-related or emotional. It’s more “calm and steady” than “out cold.”
